fly fishing in Pennsylvania?
I'm new to flyfishing, and the need for some summer flies to use on my next fishing trip. I have a beetles, caterpillars and flies parachuete. any suggestions for summer flies to use in the Brandywine for trout? or even a few trout fishing holes? thanks!
JA is right on the search for books on flies, because you want to find the species native to your area that are hatching. I give my two cents but can not guarantee that you match the hatch exactly, but I can give you some ideas fly in very versatile. I'll be sure to get some Elk Hair Caddis, Brown Stimulator, Parachute Adams, Royal Wulff, March Brown flies and catch what flies are hatching and try to find the best match. Grasshoppers and beetles near the end summer is too much money, do not forget ants either. If you really want to fish, but they are not taking your flight then tie a 1 1 / 2 feet of 4 # test leader to your hook dry fly and connect either a Prince Nymph, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Hare's Ear Nymph or Copper John, and the use of the dry fly as an indicator. That's just what I'd do. But First, find a local and get some baitshop native knowledge.
