The estimated population of Murcia last year including small connected satellite towns was just over one million inhabitants. This means it is officially the fifth largest metropolitan area in Spain today. Surrounded by mountains of Malaga is located at the southern base of the mountains of Axarquia as you fly over the top looks like a sparkling jewel on the coast in the mountains and divided by two beautiful meandering rivers.

The Guadalmedina is fed by the lakes created by the Moors in the historic village of Guadalest. The old city center of Malaga can be found in the rivers and the left bank of the river Guadalhorce, which flows west of the city and the Mediterranean.

The center of the city of Málaga is just behind the port. Today the city is still much to gain as income through fishing and agriculture, and tourism. Malaga is still running a large industrial city and a tourist attraction.

For the mark far more imposing land of Malaga has to be the greatness of The Citadel. The thick fortified walls, remains very high and ostentatious powerful architecture make this fortress in Malaga a sight not to be missed. You can get a ride for a quick access from the Anduana Plaza of The Fortress dates back to the first 700, but most of the vast structure was built in the mid eleventh century.

The door way which will take within the fortress known as Christ's door it marks the place where Christians of Malaga said his first Mass after the defeat of the Moors.

The winding road takes you through stunning gardens, you will be amazed at this haven of tranquility right in the middle of the bustling city center of Malaga. Fountains and terraces follow the path closely until you reach the inner courtyards of the fort. One of the first buildings you will find is a small palace which now houses the Archaeological Museum. This building gives a fantastic view of the city, all the way from the industrial port of the mountains that dominate in the distance.

While you'll easily distracted by the beauty and the mere presence of this building, make sure you do not miss the ruins of a Roman amphitheater. Located just below the entrance to the Alcazaba is an excellent preserved example of Roman building and a look through time in the way this unique area of Spain once looked. From here the more adventurous can follow the steep trail to the top of Gibralfaro Hill and explore the majestic castle.

In the Spanish style once the Moors had defeated the Spanish Christians devoted to building an impressive Cathedral agitation. Located in a square known as Plaza de la Catedral, is located on the site of a former mosque. Built in bright local limestone construction began in 1528 by Pedro Lopez and Diego of Siloam.

Since many cathedrals in Spain, this particular one shares a mixture of the amalgam of building styles, in fact, its still not completely finished try to spot the Manquita or the unfinished tower. The cathedral is a perfect stop for a momentary escape from the vicious heat of midday and the noise of Malaga.
