fly fishing knife
Can I take a small knife to China?

I turn to China (PRC) in a few weeks to teach English for a year or more. During my spare time, I intend to fly fishing in Mongolia, if possible. In any case, my question is .. Can I bring my Leatherman and a small knife fixed blade (3.5in blade) to China? I'm not sure whether to take these items in China is legal, and I do not want to take those points unless you know the legality of flights to China with a knife in my checked baggage. I know that Chinese customs have the ability to be the ass for nothing, but I have seen very little in the customs rules on a small, non-military and non-combat knife. Thank you.

I think we will be able to get away with it. I was in a temple once was an old war hero type of person. He had a knife with a blade of 12 inches. The only concern then was that I did not want to enter the temple with her, plus you can also buy knives with blades designed much larger. To be honest you can try calling the embassy of China and calling like others, but said the baggage is not no, but the baggage charge is not bad. And then you get here only take it with your gear.

manitoba fly in fishing

A year ago a friend of mine told me about a new Muskie lure that just arrived. The lure was a decoy Squirko Lungen. It seemed like other baits flip, but I decided to give it a try.

In the first attempt at a Muskie Lake in central Minnesota, I have to admit that I see a lot of water time. Later in season I went on a fishing trip flight in Manitoba. We tried the traditional spinner baits, silverfish and Daredevils successfully, but no trophies. We agree that the most northerns were deep. Most of what had been throwing was not getting seen by the majors.

So I decided to shift gears and make the Squirko. The lure is a jerk bait about ten inches long with a long tail of a tornado in the end. He sinks a half a foot a second. I chose to work off some weedlines deep and let it sink. It was not long after a few casts to hit "pay day". That afternoon I loaded 6 northerns Manitoba master fisherman 41 "Moreover, with the largest being 44". There were also many fish caught between 36 and 40. "My fellow ship during this time was pulling" everything in your tackle box "to download to the area. He did get one of 42" north, but it was clear that an important difference Squiko. The combination of being fish in the area more attractive to fish, instincts, when starting the Squirko was the key.

This was three years ago. Last spring we had a group of six for the same lake, the second week of May. Of the 15 northerns master angler, twelve came from my boat using the Squirko. And if my partner had a boat Squirko so I do not feel like I had to sleep with the lure to maintain "safe".

If you ever have the opportunity to fish for trophy waters Northern Pike and musky, try one. Now I am a true believer.

Imagine standing, looking at a giant tree that rises above you in heaven. Even blueberries are several feet above his head. Standing among these giants really puts life in perspective, and the silence of the forest floor is so quiet that the sound of his footsteps like thunder.

Welcome to the California redwoods, some of a unique ecosystem, which includes these trees, and some of the most beautiful California coast. In the Redwood forest, you can go biking, rafting, fishing, swimming or picnicking, but walking among these giant trees is enough of a fan-mind for most people.

If you're in the mood to enjoy the scenery, you can see the sights without leaving your car or trailer in a park of scenic walks. The most famous of these is the Avenue of the Giants. If the name gives no indication, is pretty spectacular.

Avenue of the Giants is 31 miles from Highway 101 about 5 hours north of San Francisco. Without leaving of your RV, you will see some big trees in the forest. The avenue is also near the Humboldt National Forest, where are the oldest Virgin old-growth redwood stands.

Moreover, if you want to get out and walk among the giants, there are trailheads all along the road. Every time you see a sign a path, go out and drink. Wherever that leads, will be spectacular and well worth the walk. There are also plenty of good places to stop and picnic.

The Avenue of the Giants is dotted with picturesque villages where you can stop on the way to eat, buy souvenirs or get more information about these great trees.

You've probably seen the pictures of the unity of sanctuary Thru Tree. , Located in Myers Flat, and there is a deviation in the Avenues for it. Here you can drive through one of these huge trees!

But the redwoods are more than trees. They are part of a whole ecosystem, including grasslands, rivers and coast as well. There are places like the Klamath River Mirador, where you can see down at the point where the Klamath River meets the Pacific Ocean. You may also catch sight of jumping salmon, sea lions sun bathing, flying seabirds, seals and even gray whales.

In this pristine environment there are a variety of protected wildlife, including Roosevelt elk, gray whales, black bears and sea anemones. There are also plenty of interesting creatures little, as the massive banana slugs, so named for its bright color and fruit size.

The California redwoods are a great destination for travelers of campers, and there are some wonderful camps where you can stay.
Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park is open from 1 May to 30 September and is located right in the middle of the jungle. There are 145 sites that allow both tents and recreational vehicles, but there are restrictions on the duration of motor homes can be. Call them for more information and reservations.

Everyone should see the redwoods at least once. Get out!
