How is fishing on the Blue River above Dillon Reservoir near Breckenridge, CO?

I'm looking for fly fishing in the area in July. Does blue trout held above the tank? What's Swan River that feeds it?

Recently in the Washington State Council FFF Fly Tying Expo, I bid won in a book called "The Colorado Fishing Guide" by Chuck Fothergill & Bob Sterling. This seems a really good book, get maps and full of great information. You may want to pick one up for himself. Your question gave me a good excuse to take a look at the work. According to the book, the river above Dillon Reservoir provides fishing for a short distance and fly fishing is more effective. It is only about 20 feet wide and has brown and rainbow trout. You can fish from upstream input of 2 and 1 / 2 miles to the highway bridge. After all the way to the river Breckenridge is on private property. There are many types of insects, so there are a lot of potential to use flies. Caddis hatching are ephemeral and throughout the summer and there are some Stonefly hatches too, but is best nymphing using Stonefly patterns. Ephemeral and Caddis in sizes # 14 and # 16 are the best. Stonefly imitations here do not run as large as in many rivers with size # 8 to # 12 being common. A 5 or 6 bar is all you need, and use floating lines. Straight as possible: Dry: Green Drake & BWO in size # 12 and # 14, Elk Hair Caddis in the organs of olive, tan or black. Also try Adams, Humpy, Wulff Gray in the same sizes. Nymphs: Zug Bug, Hare's Ear in # 13 to # 18, Pearl Stone Monkey Stone at # 12, Brown Hackle Peacock # 12 to # 16. You can also try Hornbergs, Woolly Buggers, patterns of leaching, Spruce Fly, Zonker and Matukas. Terrestrials: Beetles and hoppers in August. The book does not have anything on the Swan. Have a great time. Larry

I've never been too fascinated with the tabloids. Of course, like most people, the act of picking up one of these "yellow journalism" the publications is much better than waiting for the person ahead of you in the line out in the store who has to make sure they have all their coupons, it's fun. When produces a moment, vacation spots is what I say is what is most appealing to me. I like to see the star of the day, they will spend their holidays.

In one case, I remember reading about a place called Crested Butte. Located in Gunnison County, Colorado, this little known place, has been a haven outdoor adventure free for those who knew … and was not many. The population of this place, according to the census of 2000, only 1529 people.

You may never have thought of this destination for winter / summer activities and vacations, which may have been because there was very little air service there. Now, with its flow air craft flying in the local airport facilities such as Atlanta, Denver, Salt Lake, Chicago and others will not be long before you see this little piece of outdoor paradise.

You may think that skiing and snowboarding are the only things that happen here, after all, it's like 'the last great Colorado ski town, but with spring having sprung, they are rolling out the red carpet … and preverbal Catering for you.

href = "http://www.dunhillvacations.com/tracking.php?vid=14695" target = "_blank"> Some things you can do in Crested Butte then the other ski!

Ok, it is true that the main draw here is the amazing skiing and snowboarding that goes on – but that's just the tip of the iceberg. This is a list, albeit small, but it gives you a general idea of what other wonderful things that await you here:

1. Arts, Culture, Culinary and welfare. A series of walking tours that a great day of exploring the arts within the city limits. Ideal for the whole family, some of the local facilities include Crested Butte Center for the Arts, Crested Butte Mountain Theater and the Pioneer Museum and Train Museum where you can learn about how it all began in 1880.

2. Equestrian: The Gunnison National Park in expanding this activity makes an authentic experience. From stables in Almont and Mt. Crested Butte, families and friends to enjoy a variety of desert trail rides, and the trip function is through Maroon Bells Wilderness from Crested Butte to Aspen.

3. Whitewater Rafting – if you are the Professional first timer or veteran, will soon understand why the white water enthusiasts have been coming for years Colorado. One of the major tributaries of Colorado River, Gunnison River, has a network of steep ravines and streams. The Gunnison River is characterized as a scenic flight, and also a series of rapid fun to browse in Another winner for the whole family!

4. Boating-Blue Mesa, the state's largest body of water makes its home here, and some of the largest states in fish may explain why the sailing is great here. If you're another reason, then check out Lake Taylor Morrow Point and Crystal reservoirs that offer all the boat trips.

5. Scenic Drives – The key word here is "scenic" because that's what you get with these little country roads. Like something out of a John Denver song, these roads lead deep into the Colorado Desert and offer some of the most remarkable view of nature that you will see anywhere. Described by a ranger, The West Elk Loop is "the closest you can get to an experience in the desert in a passenger car.
