You've heard of many types of bass that can be found in the many lakes and rivers of the United States. There are bass, largemouth bass, black bass of small mouth, low black, white bass, and a number of others. However, there may be familiar with the sport of fishing for peacock bass, because you may never have heard of such a creature. Here is some information on this less frequent type of fish caught and some areas where you can go to good fishing for peacock bass.
A peacock bass is similar in form to largemouth bass, but definitely not a family member of largemouth bass. In fact, these children are part of the "cycles" the family, which includes more than 1,000 species worldwide and is well known by fishermen tropics. These fish select a viewpoint that keeps them well hidden and ambush unsuspecting prey passing by. They feed opportunistically and voracious in their appetite. At this point, their similarity ends largemouth bass.
Peacock bass fishing is widely popular due to the fact that the peacock is very eye appealing. The Florida peacock is shaded in blue, green, orange, and gold medals, while similar species further north is not as colorful. However, the peacock bass also offers a challenge as the most resistant species freshwater in the world. Four different species of peacock bass is from Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Brazil in South America (known here as Pavón), but at least Two of these have also come to Florida as a regular habitat. They have become known as "peacock", because a common feature in all of them: there is a black circular "eye" gold-rimmed at the base of the tail fin that resembles the markings on the tail feather of a peacock. The average fish you catch while fishing for peacock bass is between two and four pounds, although you can find much bigger.
Peacock bass fishing is an uphill battle since this species is strong and not easily reel. You will be receiving their training logbook for these puppies. Most of the peacocks are in small lakes, canal systems, and deep-water structure. The basic method of fishing for peacock implies simple Topwater baits and tactics, although they may find sometimes with excellent results stickbaits hard, plastic worms, and rattle traps. If this is the amount you want, you can even try using live bait, which increases the amounts, if not size. Fly fishermen also have your workout with peacock put fly fishing gear to be tested with their struggles.
