fishing when salt water fish fly through the blue, how can I connect the leader of steel? ?

I'm assuming that a leader must steel attached, as in regular fishing (baitcaster, etc.). but I'm not completely Postive. As I'm sure I can say, I am new to fly fishing saltwater. I basically fly fishing for blues and stripers while walking along the beach … casting lures with my Penn reel spin has caused problems too from the decoys are light wieght. Also, if you can suggest the type of line to use …. and if the purchase of a small harpoon to the recovery of the fish caught would be a good idea or not. (I'm leaning towards yes on the bill), thanks in advance.

I am not a saltwater fisherman, but I've seen references to two different Techiques leaders to set a steel leader for pike fly / Muskies: 1) using a direct tie a knot Albright 2) use of a ring and a tiger tippet knot (looks much like a Clinch knot two) to attach the steel ring. I have no personal experience with the technique, but could be a place to start looking. Gary
