Agree that there is a score of flies there and everyone should have been used at one time or another by every fly fisherman. However, all the flies are divided in 5 main categories of fly fishing lure. These are:
1. Dry Flies
2. Wet Flies
3. Nymphs
4. Streamers / queues Buck and
5. Terrestrial
The main objective of the fly, or lure, is make it look like a particular insect, fish is known as.
A dry fly is an imitation of any insect that floats on water. Remember that fish are not stupid and very alert to their surroundings. They know what kind of insects living in or on the water they live, and we know how water flows and wind cause the passage of insects. Therefore, it is not easy to fool the fish. A property of fly fishing is that the fisherman moves up as it were a live insect, so if a fisherman a dry fly is moving against the current a fish in water that was not even given a second thought. Now is not this a waste of time? This is because the fish fly is recognized as very familiar, but because it is acting as an insect that the fish are ignored as a foreign body in the water.
A wet fly is made to behave like an insect drown recognizes fish. A wet fly has fallen below the water surface unlike dry fly that is allowed to float on the surface. The wet fly fishing fishing is a technique that dates back to the Macedonians in the 2nd century and is a very effective way of fishing.
The nymph is a lure that is becoming more popular wet fly. This is because many of the men are fishermen in the belief that the fish looks like a wet fly nymph. A nymph also mimics an insect drowning and attracts the fish to eat. This is a lure that, as the wet fly, also reduced just below the water surface and this technique is fast assuming the name of 'nymphing.
Streamers are named lure of live food that already exist in the current. These flies do not look or try to impersonate any part the world of insects. However, they do look like the live food fish like to eat in streams. Buck is attracting queues that are linked to hair while Streamers are tied with feathers.
Apart from the five categories of flies used in fly fishing may have others to use as this is a sport that everyone ands try experimenting with the best technique to reach and lure to get the best trophy to his collection. If you discover that a certain type of fly fishing to be online share his discovery with fellow fly fishermen.
