Weight Fly Rod Fishing for Steelhead?

I'm going fishing Steelhead and wondered if a 5-weight rod is too light to fish for Steelhead face.

Could land a rainbow in a 5WT? Well, yes, though it would be practical? no. Its possible, but if the fishing is catch and release, as Most rainbows are caught you will be very difficult to play the fish quickly, even a smaller one. Playing your fish quickly is important, It reduces stress in fish. I would advise a staff of about 7 or 8wt about 9'6 in the action of the bar is what suits him most of my bars rainbow trout are medium and fast as I feel it's easier to play fast in the water using this configuration. Its entirely possible to use a small bow 6wt iris of pools and slow at times but I do more than 6wt rods usually have a fighting butt that helps you control the fish.
