FLY FISHING QUESTIONS! .. 10 points best answer please help me out?

A.) How do I fly the knot? I made my way to tie knots in my attracts me when freshwater fishing, but it makes the fly is sitting next to or down. (Which I suppose it will be attractive to fish.)
