I've never been too fascinated with the tabloids. Ok, it is true that the main draw here is the amazing skiing and snowboarding that goes on – but that's just the tip of the iceberg. This is a list, albeit small, but it gives you a general idea of what other wonderful things that await you here:

1. Arts, Culture, Culinary and welfare. A series of walking tours that a great day of exploring the arts within the city limits. Ideal for the whole family, some of the local facilities include Crested Butte Center for the Arts, Crested Butte Mountain Theater and the Pioneer Museum and Train Museum where you can learn about how it all began in 1880.

2. Equestrian: The Gunnison National Park in expanding this activity makes an authentic experience. From stables in Almont and Mt. Crested Butte, families and friends to enjoy a variety of desert trail rides, and the trip function is through Maroon Bells Wilderness from Crested Butte to Aspen.

3. Whitewater Rafting – if you are the Professional first timer or veteran, will soon understand why the white water enthusiasts have been coming for years Colorado. One of the major tributaries of Colorado River, Gunnison River, has a network of steep ravines and streams. The Gunnison River is characterized as a scenic flight, and also a series of rapid fun to browse in Another winner for the whole family!

4. Boating-Blue Mesa, the state's largest body of water makes its home here, and some of the largest states in fish may explain why the sailing is great here. If you're another reason, then check out Lake Taylor Morrow Point and Crystal reservoirs that offer all the boat trips.

5. Scenic Drives – The key word here is "scenic" because that's what you get with these little country roads. Like something out of a John Denver song, these roads lead deep into the Colorado Desert and offer some of the most remarkable view of nature that you will see anywhere. Described by a ranger, The West Elk Loop is "the closest you can get to an experience in the desert in a passenger car.

As noted above, these are just a short list of things to do here.
