Fly fishing is worth the effort or should I stick with the basic spinning gear?
Normally I will be fishing for smaller trout in the Sierra Alta.
Schnurrb – Well, as I'm sure you already know, the answer depends entirely on who you ask. I've been fishing for 40 years. I got on spinning gear when I was a teenager because the boys in the sample were using. I never got used to baitcasting reels, but then – there was no good reason to play with them. I became interested in fly fishing for a short while, only because it was so different. My experience was – it's a pain in the a & &. I have that part very well and dropped it. Unless you already know how, and have been practicing for years, is going to ruin a good trip and miss a lot of fish while is screwing with the train, trying to get an idea of melting, the water line, fighting the fish with the reel is how it is, and if you are fairly new to her, you whip out much of its appeal, and its range is short and vague. Moreover – if you've been spinning fishing years – you can put a spinner behind a rock on a cutting bench 10 feet away no problem. You can control its movements to small contractions, and you can to fight fishing for family reasons. If you want to use the flies, put one on your line, and put a shot from six inches apart on the line. If you need more weight, more big. If you would like on the surface, forget the weight – just use a bobber Clear 18 "up. If you are close to casting a configuration Spinning – just pull out there with any weight, then twitch it. Sometimes I will tie flies in a foot below a decent size weight, then contraction through deep water in lakes and capture all sorts of things – but are particularly effective on crappie. I know you are going for trout, but I was standing when a fellow pulled a 5-pound rainbow from under a bench cut deep in the Ozarks (Little Piney River, south of Rolla, Missouri) using a small crawdad rebel. Trout found in the rivers where they live Crawdads also considered a very tasty morsel. There was absolutely nothing beneficial about fly fishing, not to what was an arcane specialist skill that some people because they took a shine to it. There seems to be a certain level of prestige that she, too, for some people, but I'm immune to that kind of shit and expensive jackets and roll does not impress me. You give me a Shimano spinning reel loaded with 8 pounds Spiderwire line on a spinning rod 6 ', the smallest of bronze and orange and black rebel crawdad silver 1 "floating Rapala minnow and I'll bet on me against anyone with a flyrod on any river in the country on a given day. Just 2 cents from a farmer with a computer. – Kevin PS. I agree that fly fishing can be quite affordable. I Cheapo and the route that w / a Browning automatic and used a bar of Shakespeare, but it just was not my bag. Part of my problem w / Fly fishing is the fact that the Ozarks are covered with trees. It is a beautiful, but if you have a small stream filled with willows and weeds that are killed, or you can spend much time doing unhung. Those who make use of a ship, standing amid a wider stream, or improve on the patio. Furthermore, in relation to the lighter gear. Absolutely. I think a moment I have very clear, I randomly draw something that the tears of my things – usually a small mouth. Hey, just a thought here – have both. Take a fly fishing lesson the first day, continuation, for a couple of hours, know what you need, then go to the car to get other things and a cold beer anytime you are frustrated. Good luck
