1. Queenstown in the South Island is considered the "Adventure Capital of the World." New Zealanders have a saying about Kiwi ingenuity which is confirmed by tourist spots in New Zealand.
2. A wide range of different accommodation options to suit all tastes. At the top there is lodges that are the height of luxury. These accommodations are usually located in areas of great scenic beauty and isolation and all gourmet meals are included in the price. The price of this type of accommodation reflects the luxury and inclusions.
The next level of accommodation hotels, international star to 5 to 2 star accommodation basis. Hotels tend to be treated on a daily basis and usually include a room and a bathroom. The hotel rooms include tea and coffee, refrigerators and Most hotels include a restaurant.
One option for families is increasing the number of apartments. The apartments are usually holiday instead of a hotel stay but the advantage is that they offer more space and have a kitchen which means you do not have to eat out all the time saving you money to spend on tourism.
Then we have motels. Generally speaking motels offer more space than hotels and tend to be handled daily but usually not as luxurious. Motels often provide a bedroom or twice and kitchen facilities. You should check this when making the reservation.
There is also a growing number Bed and Breakfast. These vary dramatically and can range from 5 star establishments to the very basic. If you like "meet the locals", the BY the Option B would be good for you. Generally, breakfast is provided as part of the price. Dinner would be by special arrangement only.
If you are on a budget there are plenty of backpacker hostels to choose from that are centrally located and well priced.
3. New Zealand has a culinary landscape. It is a small island country surrounded by sea, there are a host of seafood dishes on offer. The ocean surrounding New Zealand thanks to the Antarctic cold water are relatively close. Cold water fish tend to have a delicate flavor. Just as the fish of the sea, there are large lakes which are trout and salmon breeding grounds. Trout can not be fish commercially so there is no danger of running out of supplies. New Zealand is also great at stake and the most up-market restaurants will gaming option on the menu. You will find that there are choices of restaurants for every taste and budget. New Zealand may be far removed geographically from the rest the world, but is quick to adopt new types and styles of food and kiwi ingenuity above the article shows in the food served in restaurants. There are bars and cafes, bars that serve food, pubs, restaurants, food choices of the family, buffet, and the most up-to market demand.
There also is a thriving wine industry in New Zealand. Wherever you go, you will see the vines, and many of the wines produced are of high quality. Marlborough located at the top of the South Island is one of the oldest and best known wine areas, most famous for the production of Sauvignon Blanc. New Zealand is also becoming very well known for producing excellent Pinot Noir, a wine very difficult to produce.
4. If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, you know that the recent spate of films were shot in different parts of New Zealand. New Zealanders are very proud of that and while traveling around you will find many references to the parts of the films that may have been filmed in certain spots. There are also tours catering specifically The Lord of the Rings fans.
5. New Zealand has a very interesting cultural history. It is believed that Maori arrived from Polynesia settled in New Zealand about 1000 years ago. New Zealand became a British colony in 1840 after the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. There are many excellent museums in the cities and towns that offer a wide overview of the relatively short and violent history of New Zealand.
