Rod and reel that I pass by fly fishing?
Ive been fishing a spinner for years and want to get into fly fishing. I live in Washington and was looking for a rod and reel combo to catch bass, trout and, occasionally, pink and steelies. I was looking on the computer Redington RS4, but was unsure what for tippet size (1x or 5x) and what size reel to get to the whole. I'm new to fly fishing and was wondering how I should go about buying my combo and what works best. Any relief response. thanks.
This question is very broad and somewhat vague. You do not say much about your budget or how much you know on fly fishing, which makes it difficult to make good recommendations. If fly fishing is something that you really want to go, I recommend you start browsing websites fly fishing and become familiar with some of the brands and equipment there. At the same time, flying visit stores in your area, If you live in Washington state, and you live anywhere near a river, you probably can not take a step without hitting a fly shop. Unfortunately, a fly fishing equipment that you can fish rainbow trout will be a little too muscular for fishing for trout and bass. I like fish and river flows smaller with a weight of 5 or lighter, but fishing for rainbow trout and salmon you might like a 6-weight in the least, and probably a 7-weight. Tippet – you do not have to opt for a cape to go with fly fishing gear. Most people carry several sizes and some have six or seven spools of tippet. The 5x tippet would be for fishing for small to medium – 5x monkey will have a breaking strain of around 4 pounds. 1x Mono is heavier tippet for fishing and will be around 10-pound test. TFO rods and reels are more expensive than a combo would result in Cabela's or a sporting goods store – probably set you back at least $ 200 to get a good mix (then you have to think line …), but I think it's worth. If you feel you must get a pre-packaged combination of Cabela's or somewhere like that, I recommend that Fenwick HMG combos Cabela's has now – seem to be of high enough quality and the prices seem fair.
