Fishing help? (Photos included)?
I'm going fishing in Freeport, Texas, on Friday and I plan on doing some fishing and crabs. I own this set line-up and wondered if it would work to catch fish at all? I will be fishing from a pier. What kind of bait should I use? I was thinking of buying some frozen baby squid. Does that work? Is there a better way to bait? What time of day should I fish? What kind of fish can you expect? Sorry for so many questions! Last year I went, but I was prepared and just had some stuff of fly fishing. Really wants to catch something this year! So here is the link to my game line-up … http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u197/michaelxxxtofu/IMG_1011.jpg
I pulled out of the Freeport area for 30yrs. His platform works well for bottom fishing in the docks on the side of the Brazos Surfside or Quintana docks on the south side of the Brazos. Depending on the current, you may have more weight to keep your platform below, so bring plenty of dollars. I also use to use pre-made double leaders picked up in Walmart or the grocery store of bait, Sheephead and other fish out there can cut the line with his teeth. Personally, I stopped fishing piers, due to the fall of UPS and lose a lot address. Wade fishing in the area and holds was much more productive anyway. Some tips for fishing piers are: To catch the Red Rat, stains and flounder, the fish at the beach side of the piers between the sandbars, second and third. There are 4 main sandbanks that run along that coasline. Watch where the waves break to say where they are. Between 2 and 3 bars to use a dead blow a cork with live shrimp or fresh in early morning or late afternoon. The tide affects the bite afternoon, but I always fish in that area during the morning, regardless of what the tide is doing. Using a weird Cork also save you allot of address to be hung on the bottom. Cast 30-50yrds out with the bait set to drop 2-3 feet below the cork. I use to buy the cork exploded with 2ft leader already mounted to it. Any place there will bait or Walmart. You can fish the bottom, but remember to lift the rod high and reel in as fast as possible to pull the line to inspect the bait or something, otherwise it will be breaking or cutting the line to dispose of a hanging. Fishing on the bottom, between 2 and 3 shrimp shoals dead or fresh frozen rat can get red, sand and spotted trout, flounder small drum, golden croaker, small Sheephead, headstrong and catfish gafftop small, and perch. Squid fishing the bottom is going to catch catfish that assigns of stubborn in this area and will age faster. The fish in the background between the banks third and fourth sand. Shrimp or use finger mullet of black drum, Sheephead, sand trout, rat, and red bull, gafftop, sand and black tip shark. Fish live shrimp mudminnow to or near the spring, just after the Third Wave Breaker point all the way until the end of the jetties, anywhere can be found Nice clear the rocks. I only enough weight to keep the BB mudminnow or shrimp below. I caught a lot of 3-5 pounds flounder in that area right to the end of the piers. Fish about 20-30 feet beyond the sand bar 4 with bait on the bottom of shrimp, squid, mullet, cut bait. Using squid in the 4th to bar the end of the springs can capture some gafftop Nice (especially at night), but still assigns hardheads. Good opportunity for bull reds, black drum and sharks larger than the water is getting deeper here the past day 4. Whiting can be caught beyond this point until the end too. Mackerel can be caught the end, sometimes, a little king or barracuda. I've hooked a fish out there that was with 50 lbs test line when fishing was gafftop at night. Only smoked the reel. When fishing the canal side of the jetties to fish the bottom. I do not find the canal side near as productive as the surf side. The deep water channel Sheephead has caught me more black and even drum. Between 2 and 3 sand bar in the early morning and pop a cork with live shrimp on a treble hook # 10 baby is where I would be if I went there. Spotted trout guarantee if you do. Wade fishing in the bays in the area is awesome hesitate to contact me for more information if necessary. 40yr exp

The Grass Is Greener
$6.98 Cary Grant is the befuddled English earl casually puttering around his tourist attraction of a grand old estate in casual dress while a bull of an American millionaire (Robert Mitchum) crashes into his life and seduces Grant's sophisticated lady (Deborah Kerr). It's pure fantasy, of course, with its cool, cultured lovers swapping witty banter with the same calm they swap gunshots in an old-fashion... |
