The Registry of State at Indiana Black Crappie is 4 pounds, 11 ounces. Black Crappie prefer water temperatures from 68 to 72 degrees, and deeper, slow moving water.
Rules and Regulations
Like other states, Indiana requires that you purchase a fishing license before fishing in all public waters in Indiana. The only exception to this is in private ponds and lakes. For a residential fishing license, you must have lived in Indiana for at least 60 days. Everyone others will be issued a nonresident license.
You can buy your license online if the website of the government of Indiana, or at any local store DNR office by phone or mail.
Indiana allows exemptions. If you are over the age of 65 are not required to obtain a license fishing, however you must bring a valid ID showing their age and area of residence. If you are under 17 years of age or legally blind, was not required buy a license. Staff of all military forces can leave the fish without a license, provided they take their leave orders with you at all times, and Indiana is their home state.
Indiana Hot Spots
RESERVOIR Eagle Creek – Eagle Creek Reservoir is 10 miles northwest of the city of Indianapolis, and right next Interstate 465. Of confiscation as a lake of water and covers approximately 1,350 hectares. It has an average depth of 18 feet with a depth maximum of 45 feet.
A large amount of coverage available to the upper end of the lake.
MORSE RESERVOIR – Morse Reservoir is a reservoir water supply owned by the Indianapolis Water Company. The lake extends over 1,350 hectares, and can reach a depth of 45 meters in some areas. Be careful, as some points in the lake are very close.
There are a lot of coverage around the lake. Wooded areas and snags provide the necessary coverage for essential crappie fishing.
LAKE SULLIVAN – Sullivan Lake is in the southwestern part of Indiana, near the town of Sullivan. This is a small lake, only covers 461 acres. The average depth is 10 feet with spots up to 25 feet deep. The main fish found in Lake Sullivan is crappie white. About 50% of all fishermen in the Sullivan Lake are fishing for crappie.
One interesting fact about the Sullivan Lake is the fact that food crappie largely error instead of other small fish, despite the large number of shad in the lake available. Biologists studied the stomach contents Crappie to find a lot of Caddis fly larvae.
