What are some good techniques for fly fishing on a lake shore?

I need to know some good techniques for fishing with a fly lake shore. It just seems very different techniques that I was in a river.

Flys First, look for fish rising. Hatches are common lake maid for which there are patterns and small black gnats that can be imitated with a pattern of mosquito Griffith. Sometimes just throwing a pattern of attraction large as a stimulator or a royal Wulff will attract fish, helps give the fly a few contractions and make them "dance" in the water. I use this floating flyline method. If no action at the top usually scantily clad snot use wool (without head count) and soft Hackle nymph patterns like a pheasant tail (obviously) in an intermediate sink tip. cast out and let the line sink occasionally twitching the rod tip. Recover with snot strips slowly and pause between each. The nymphs that let it rest and then slowly lift the rod tip and the "hand-line recovery, the slower the better. Good luck and tight lines
