fly fishing?
Im going to be fly fishing the North Umpqua River in Oregon. for rainbow trout and wondered what kind of flies are good.
Try using weighted streamers as clousers. cord or Conehead buggers, I tie and marabou sell a version of the Mickey Finn Conehead. If you want a bit of meat .. try a double rabbit. All these flies are available on my website. I've included a link. If you do not use a weighted fly, which will take a little skeet shooting to get to where the fish are. (In the bottom). I'm not sure what caliber is fly fisherman, but I'll give some advice anyway. If you are fishing streamers, cast at an angle of 45 degrees by the river and let your swing in the current until it is directly downstream from you .. resist tempted to pick it up right away .. leave it at the current time and immersion fluttereing surprised how many strikes andyou'll get with this method …. No hits? pick up and repeat as many times as you feel about necessary and then take a few steps downstream and repeat the process of work throughout the race until you feel that fish have enough depth to move to any other race, or you may want to start at the top and refish to get all the fish that hit short. I wish he would with ya! Good luck!
