Tips for fly fishing – casting, but not in the winding?
I started fly fishing and want some advice on what to do once I have completed with my cast. What is the best way to reel or what leaders can give me the best results. Thanks
It was given some good answers to a very broad question. If you are fishing dry flies, then it needs a tapered leader of insurance, which helps transfer power from the line emitted by the leader and the fly, which in theory gives a fair presentation of the dry fly. You can build your own tapered leaders, but tend to use store bought leaders tapered to the dry fly. There are fewer nodes to wake up in the water and collect less trash in the water on top. I use Rio tapered mono leaders, who tend to be a little expensive but very good. So, to keep costs down, use Tippet, say about 18 inches away from him at the end of their leader. For the most part only use fluorocarbon tippet. It is harder for fish to see. It is a few extra large fish that can tie a tippet size up what is normally used because it is harder for fish to see. Only the really small size 20 and 22 flies that sometimes the use mono tippet. By the way, always replace the tippet mono every year since ages with UV light and weaker. Fluorocarbon not have that problem, so if it is more expensive to buy, is can hang on until you use it all up instead of throwing them away at the end of the fishing season, so it really ends up being cheaper. Dry fly fishing means usually want a drag free drift if you are in a river or stream. Therefore, you have to make good on a deal to keep the fly from being dragged by the River water faster than the fly is resting in. usually want a drag free drift, but that does not mean you can not move the fly. If you look errors in the water unless they are dead, it will move a little or sometimes a lot. So what kind of insect you are imitating? A female stone fly moves over the height of the water drop their eggs, like other insects, so sometimes you want the movement. Other times it is seen that kind of insects are resting or dying on the surface water in lakes and rivers, and be required to be completely free of drag or use very small rod tip movements to give a bit of action to the fly. Once have moved to the flight out of the target area a nice feature on the dry fly fishing can simply take the line of flight and quickly make a mold back to your target area, possibly with only one false cast to have a change of direction and help dry the fly. When fishing streamers or nymphs, who must strip more in line as you would a dry fly before you can collect recast. Leaders of nymphs and streamers do not have to be sharp. You not doing a deal for the presentation, you are making a mold to get the fly to the area you want the fly to sink cm for heavy coils used in large trout or bass, only 4 foot pieces of fairly heavy leader would do. You will not be any fishing 6X or 7X tippet or leaders, more like at 4X or 3X or 2X. You can taper the leader of a little if you like but just did it by tying the two leaders, as 3X and 4X in a tie and possibly then 5x progress. For nymphs in a river, which will be under water and the nymphs are fully fished drag free and depth, as the right to the bottom or as a dropper out of a dry fly, still fished drag free, then that mimics an insect emerging. Streamers fished regularly with a variety of recovery, so general with lots of action and usually not drag free. The recovery rate should be varied online to find what they want to fish. As mentioned in other answers, retrieve the line with the other hand is holding the rod. But remember to keep control of the line with the index finger of the hand cane and only take the line that goes hand in hand behind the bar to remove any lines in. When fishing streamers large or very large dry flies, you may need to be a leader largest and possibly increase the size of your line for a single size for better control of the fly. As cast and exchange of flies you will account has exceeded the capacity of the line and the leader or to do the job properly. That's when you need to increase in one size for better control. Case of the smaller and smaller trout that can finish just under depletion on the line all the way in bringing the fish to reach the back line on the spool. While they are only making short casts that's okay. If you are making a long cast and then try to leave work is taught a little fish out of line (without giving him any slack) to the line, then start reeling in, provided their drag set very light, enough to drag the spool queue if not free Fish has a career (a spool of free queue equals one Birdsnest the end of the race). Then the palm of the coil for an extra charge. You get the feeling how much in the palm of a coil and also discover why it's good leather palm gloves (I use SunGloves to protect the hand of the sun and the palms of leather). When the fish stops is running, slowly start reeling in the line of maintaining proper tension on the line every time. For the biggest fish ever try to get the line on the reel as soon as possible. There is nothing worse than having a lot of line to his feet, trying to tie knots in itself and have a fish off in the long term. One of the nodes reach the first guide and there goes the fish. Hope this helps and most of the answers to your question. Larry
