Every city has one: the old man who knows all the secrets of the rivers and streams in the area who never goes home with an empty box catch, who is wanted for lovers fishing for all.

Part of what makes it so great: he has learned to read the water, identifying the group of fish and know where in the river is most likely to find those places. Here are five tried and true methods for finding the best places in the river to drop a line, even if you've never been there before. Be ready to cut some lines, however, because some of them will have caught before locating the sweet spot filled dinner tonight.

1. The old logs and debris. His love for the fish are hiding in places with lots of debris – Pools for Foucault, where shrubs and branches are swept away by the current are fantastic. This is one of the places you need to be ready to cut the line, however, there is a good opportunity, when launches in this area, which is hooked into the wood instead of getting a bite. It is best to close these places on the other side of the shore for this reason. And because these areas tend to be relatively noisy underwater, be near your fish here is not likely to scare them.

2. "Buggy" areas are the best places to find fish. When fly fishing, after all, you are trying to convince the fish that are attractive casting out a fly – So it is logical that the fish will be grouped under real flies. It is difficult to see the swarms of insects in the water, especially in the small hours of sun, so choose a good pair of polarized sunglasses to reduce glare. As a bonus, polarized sunglasses also cut the glare from the surface of water, other elements to detect submerged and even the forms of moving prey. For large bodies of water that can be shared long, polarized binoculars (or even normal binoculars) may be useful in identifying those areas.

3. Quiet near pools of water fast with lots of bubbles are ideal. This means eddy pools that (again), near the falls, rapids, near, or in fast moving water after a good flood. Remember, your need Fish do three things well: a hideaway, a good source of food flies, and a lot of oxygen. These pools tend to be rather calm airy, due to rapid nearby, while also providing plenty of places to hide in quiet areas.

4. Areas rich in willows and other semi-aqueous vegetation (especially during high water). These are the main points for insects such as mosquitoes to lay their watery eggs, providing the fish under water with a food source and a large number of flies on the water. These are also areas prone to catch, unfortunately, to be paramount when you are fishing here. Spring floods and high water times are even better times, as you tend to have a population increase of errors, new more places for fish to explore.

5. Boat docks, tree roots, and submerged with water features hiding places, including near large rocks and boulders are large. Always waiting for coupling problem, these fish from near and far.

The best areas are those that provide refuge fish, calm water, oxygen, and a lot of mistakes but do not want many bugs. Having its most promising early in the day when the sun is low (less glare) and the fish are hungry, and mistakes are starting to swarm.
