What do I put on my line when I'm fishing for trout?

I'm going fishing for trout in a pond this week and wondering what to put in my line, as the form of platform that is? It is a pond to what I should do? I can only fly fish? I have lots of gear, I just do not I know what kind of things to take with me fishing. Please help!
