Fly fishing for bass?

What is the correct way to fish with a popper? Good fly fishing tips will also help.

Poppers can be effective when used in a variety of ways. The fish are those that establish how it should be used. If you are talking Largemouth Bass: Right its cast some cover, like lilies, logs, docks, boats, anything that gives them some protection. In its first cast hit and do nothing for the account 10 or less. Then, give it a shake, once. Let stand for another count of 10 or less. Throw in a foot of line. Set aside. Make a couple short strips. Try a twice. If the bass do not like that then make your deal and immediately start stripping in the line 6 strips of an inch short. Do it for 5 or 6 feet. Just vary your band and its pauses until you find a combination to the low that day. The next day may be totally different. For a river Smallmouth issued for the coast (right to the edge) or under a bush or tree ledge under the lie and start giving jerks or short strips. Something else that might try not seem very interested, is tied into a great Woolly Bugger (black, olive or brown or white) about 2 feet behind the Popper. It can weigh as much sinking the popper. The sound can attract Popper low we shall see the 'safe' food of the Woolly Bugger and take it. Remember to open the cast a bit with a big bow when they are issuing a dropper fly your plane main. Fluorocarbon Tippet would be good to use for the drip, they only heavy enough to take a bass. Wait a few dining rooms as the leader and tippet wrap about one every so often. Good luck. Larry
